snoozie &The miltonics
Snoozie &The Miltonics began in June of 2001 with Susie and Milton getting together twice a week to musically brainstorm. Inspiration came from everything, from the dog to the jars to the meteor showers, and some great songs were written. From there came our EP, "We Make Noise" (2003), and the addition of our drummer, Leo. We're enjoying playing live all over Chicago and we are preparing to begin thinking about recording again. Soon.
We can't tell you how we go about writing the songs because it's a secret...like the Coca-Cola recipe. What we can tell you is that the songs are sarcastic (Ethan), sometimes meaningful (Charlotte's Web), sometimes meaningless (Milton's House). Our goal is to write songs with great melodies, jangly guitars and noisy effects. Some of our influences (defined as “Those musicians who most inspire(d) you to play”): Milton? “Jimi Hendrix, Ween & Bill Frisell.” Leo? “Sting, Los Amigos Invisibles and Silvio Rodríguez..” Susie? “U2, Wilco, and The Flaming Lips.”
Our sound has been compared to Built to Spill with a chick singer, Cat Power, and Fruit Bats to name a few. Fans have said that we are that obscure, underground band that they discovered before anyone else.
susie inverso
bass & vocals
Susie wears many hats – photographer by day and musician by night. She attended Elmhurst College like her cohorts. She grew up a band geek and was often the only girl in the trumpet section. Now she's the only girl in the whole band! Along with singing and strumming with Snoozie &The Miltonics she plays bass for Chicago electro project Flutter.
milton dixon
guitar & vocals
Milton has been playing some kind of instrument since he could walk. He has a BS in Music Business from Elmhurst College and is currently working on a BM in Classical Guitar Performance at Roosevelt University. He teaches the wee-ones how to play guitar. A Multi-talented man, indeed.
leo peņa
drums
Leo grew up in Mexico City and moved here in high school. He's also an Elmhurst College alum. He just got his Master's in Education and will forever be learning. Currently, Leo teaches Bilingual education in Cicero. He's played every style you can think of from classical to jazz to reggae, and is currently playing Cajun/Zydeco with The Midway Ramblers as well rocking-out with us.
